Can LEDlife save you money on fixture purchases over other companies?
Yes: in the vast majority of situations, we certainly can get you the exact same light/fixture for less money. And, yes, we are talking about genuine, authorized products that are fully compliant and certified.
But that’s not the main way we save clients money. The big savings typically come from smart fixture and bulb substitutions as well as alternative lighting approaches that provide better lighting at lower cost.
Smart Fixture Substitutions
In many cases, a specified light fixture can be swapped out for an alternate fixture with a just as elegant look & identical spec that might be 1/5 to 1/2 the price. And we can work with your designer or architect to ensure they’re happy with the substitution. Check out our case study for an awesome example of this.
Of course, in order to make this kind of substitution, you have to have the right lighting and purchasing know how. You have to know which companies make which kind of fixtures at which kind of price. This is why most commercial builders simply buy the specified light and pay full price.

Smart LED / Bulb Substitutions
LED & CFL lighting can certainly vary in size, shape, lumen output, shielding, sealing against dust, etc. Naturally one has to take these things into account. But even with all that, once you get into standardized lighting panels or common wall fixtures, you really are buying commodity lighting, regardless of the specs you need.
And this is where it makes the most sense to buy on price. LEDlife can suggest smart substitutions of LED bulbs and panels that can get you significant savings.
In one particular case study, we were able to drop the client’s per-panel price from $205 to $122.
Substitutions are easy when you have encyclopedic knowledge of the industry. But almost impossible when you don’t.

Alternative Lighting Approaches
This is an especially common way for us to save money for clients looking to retrofit an existing building with LED lighting. Because most lighting suppliers would rather recommend retrofit options that are easy, rather than options that fit within a client’s budget or building constraints.
So while someone else might represent wholesale replacement of fixtures and bulbs, we could find a way to make the retrofit work by just changing bulbs.
